County Partnerships

The goal of ending hunger doesn’t work with a “one-size fits all” solution. Each community is unique in its demography, challenges, resources and opportunities.

To address these challenges, Second Harvest Heartland initiated a pilot project in Blue Earth County to determine if stakeholders from business, nonprofit, local government, education and religious organizations could form a collaborative that could end hunger in the county on a sustained basis.

Our “Missing Meals” study, with data for Blue Earth County, provided the catalyst for organizing a broadly-based, locally-led collaborative. The county needs 2.6 million more meals each year to end hunger. Learn more about the “Feeding Our Communities Partnership” program.
